cheapest smartphone with EDGE, mini/micro port

hi,
my friend need cheapest smartphone for surfing net from pc, so he need EDGE and mini/micro usb port, because pop-port is not good for regular use,...... budget near around 10k....
i selected Motorola A1200 Ming, Nokia 5700, no idea if any other available in that price, any other suggestion??

I dont think 5700 is a very smartphone kind of cellphone...basically u wont find a true smartphone for a 10k budget...but i would anyday recommend a MOTOROKR e6 or a K790i...

but the dissapointing fact is that Micro SD card is much cheaper than MS M2.
1Gb Micro SD is for some 250~300 bucks while 2GB for some 500~600 bucks. Even 4GB one is around 1.3k

but even 1Gb M2 will cost u a min of 600 and forget 4GB. It ll cost a bomb, more than twice than of Micro SD.
but maybe transfer rate is the reason, as ive read somewhere that Memory stick are faster than SD or MMC, but u wont need that speed for mobile application as still the UI and processing of a mobile is still lower compared to actual operational speed of a card.

Anybody who is suggesting N73, K790i, etc. is smoking weed. That too a cheap one. The thread starter clearly mentioned he needs a smartphone and moreover one with mini or micro USB port. 5700 fits this bill perfectly. In case it's not available, you should get the E51 for 11k.

my bro uses both 5700 and N73........but from my experience, I will tell to go for k790i or N73(of course, u hav to flash it to ME edition as my bro did, otherwise u can't feel its real strength). And wat I realized is dat k790i can indeed do very thing dat 5700 can do, though it doesn't hav the 'smart phone' name

Btw krates. All phones run an OS.Without an OS its impossible to interact with the system. Be specific in saying that Nokia has a Symbian OS.

SE offers a built-in call recording application. Even my old w550i has it!! he he. There maybe a few symbian distictive apps but most of them are also available on java.

one must realize the true power of symbian....and never compare symbian with java......symbian allows full control over phone to apps so very high possibilities,....like in symbian cod ec can b installed....and voip java is no where near symbian.....if u intend to use ure phone mor than just calling and listning music and clicking pics.....then symbian is the way atleast.....but e6 allows this all as it has got LINUX based os remeber OS

I didn't compared java against Symbian........I said all works dat can be done with a Symbian fone can be done on a java based SE fone, considering in this price range of phones. Of course, the upper range smartphones can do a lot more........

Symbian and java are both great,
for example i am using atm sym apps like Joikuspot , Symtorrent, Vbagx etc. which work best is sym phones,
also few java apps like opera mini.

Its the variety ,ease of use and deep integration with phone that makes symbian desirable.

you can try htc p3400, its around 10k.
you can mod it to windows mobile 6.1 from xda developers site, just google "xda forums", go to "gene" .
am using it for 2 months now, and happy with it.
just get a 2gb mem stick too (500/-),and it should suit your need.
