already Airtel is taking Rs.498pm for EDGE here in WB, after launching 3g they surely increase it a bit.....:x
Hutch is giving unlimited EDGE only with postpaid for only Rs.899.....:x
dont talk about aircel, reliance smart, bsnl....
aircel has no such unlimited plan.....:rolleyes:
Reliance smart have EDGE for Rs.303pm, but speeds are really worst in compare to Airtel, and network coverage is very bad
BSNL doesn't provide EDGE in many places, and they provide unlimited scheme only for postpaid customers for Rs.199:x

so dont imagine for 3G, those guys cant yet provide EDGE in all places......

Launch of 3G would atleast get the cost of edge/gprs down! So it should be a win-win situation for everyone!

We are ready , atleast those who use edge/gprs are. But the sad fact is that we are but the minority in this country. Most people don't even know they can access net on phone.

Also it seem making a tower 3G capable is lot more expensive than the transition from Gprs to Edge.

Sadly we will have to live with Gprs/Edge for few more years :rolleyes:

Ps. I am hoping for "few more years" sentence not to come true.

^^^naah we dont.3g spectrum will be alloted sooner than expected. This comes to international pressure on India to bring India to the same levels of communication as the ones in the Western countries. Hell ya, even south africa has hsdpa.

It seems the spectrum is already sold, but the real question is when will the end user get 3g services.
After all these telecom operators already make profits ^^ with their gprs/edge with pitiful speeds. They won't be in any particular hurry to give 3G for the minority.

But if someone decides to do the Gmail magic , then we are lucky :D

Read it in some forum, don't remember where......i think i read it in some forum or blogger site when i was inquiring abt the 3G of N82..........this might be one of the many rumors about 3g coming to India before 4Q 2008 :lol:
