best budget ATI card

can anybody tell which is the best budget ATI card comparable with a 8600Gt or a 9600GS card, and their respective prices?

these are costly cards.
i want a budget which would work well for around a year, then i can upgrade.

Thought these cards are much much cheaper than nvidia counterparts, they come at high cost in India. At this price point, nvidia seems to have better bang for the bucks, at least in India. [but HD 4850 @ 11.5, even if expensive compared to US, still kicks hard and has extreme vfm].
Palit 9600GSO for 6.5k is fine.
