How to rename multiple files at once?

No Program needed

select all of the files by dragging a box around them with left mouse button pressed.
and right click on any one file from which u want to start the numbering = name it, and rest will be renamed as '*File name1, 2, 3,4 *' etc.

if confusion see and learn from

my 200 KB video (http://colton.computer.googlepages.com/renamemutiplefilesatonce.wmv)

Download it and watch!

additional: use ctrl and left click to select individual files

OMG!! I don't know whether to laugh or tear out my hair in frustration!!! I can't believe you actually made a video for that?? http://gigasmilies.googlepages.com/actions1.gif
Dude, that's one of the oldest tricks in the book!! If any of you are wondering, the video shows a box being dragged around a few images to select them, then the first file is renamed and all others get renamed as well!!! And I can't believe I actually downloaded that video!! http://gigasmilies.googlepages.com/20.gif

I was just trying to help someone if they didn't know it.
I'm sorry if anyone's time is wasted because of me.

very old, but using this method will not work for the extensions, hence not much use for me, anyways it's good for newbies
