Hi
Well I can't say this is a particular Linux OS Issue.. But I been facing this issue with Linux.. Ok all Linux OS detect my Realteak AC97 Sound Chip and configure it work. But when I listen any kind of Audio .. There is a problem.. After few second or minutes there is no output , its not necessary that out vanishes only when I play , sometimes it vanishes just after I log On or at any time.... The Sound output vanishes.. and it sometimes come back again in few minutes/or after a long duration ? Whats exactly the problem !

I have faced this issue in different OS except Windows { I cannot confirm the current status with Windows cause I haven't used it for years } :p ? Can this be rectified? Do other Linux user face similar issue ?

I too faced the same problem in all version of Ubuntu(i think we both have the same nobo/soudcard 845gvsr) and it happened in Exaile & Audacious. Now i have switched to xine-based players and all is fine.
