Here is a small tutorial to connect to the internet using your mobile (via USB cable) and following the GUI based setup in openSUSE 10.3
Here are the steps:
First connect your mobile via the USB with your PC then go to
Yast----->Network devices---->Modem; then your Mobile Modem would be detected and In the "Modem configuration Overview" window click on "Edit---> Next--->Custom Providers: In the " Provider parameter" inpput as follows:
Provider Name: "Access point name" (e.g., airtelgprs.com for Airtel, www.e.po for BSNL East Post Paid etc.)
Phone No: In most cases *99# or *99***1#
User Name : Give your user name (if no user name required by your provider then put "a"
Password : Give your password (if no pass word required then again put "a")
Then click Next---> Next----> Finish
You may need to install some software required , specifically "smpppd" and "Kinternet" so keep your opensuse 10.3 DVD at hand.
That's it. No need to go Konsole way. To connect open the kinternet dial-up application and click on dial-in and you will be connected to the internt.
