View Full Version : how to reset the bios password

guys! i need help and suggestions....
my aunt is using PEN3 with (20gb, 128+128 mb RAM, and TOMATO motherboard)

the problem is that..when i went to make her computer...i found there is no CMOS battery in the board and no BIOS JUMPER too..!!!:(
isnt this something....actually i wanted to reset the password of the BIOS
the BIOS version is AMERICAN MEGA TREND....i want to get to BIOS coz i have alert msg: WARNING CPU speed has been changed!!
but when i press ESC or ENTER for around 2-3 times the password field requied in the BIOS diappears...what now disappoints me....is..the windows xp start loading as soon as the BIOS screen vanish!!

help me..how can i reset the password now???

download awflash (or other bios flashing software) and save the bios file to hdd. again update the bios with the file that u saved.

restart.

bios will load the default and password will be gone. u can again set the bios password

Reset your mobos cmos setting by :
1. Removing the cmos battery fro mobo & about 2 mins later sit it back.
2. Clear Mobos jumper setting ( see manual )

Some old bios dont have jumper instead user need to press some key from keyboard before pressing the power button. This instruction is written on mb pcb.

^^ But Removing the cmos battery from mobo & put it back again some time later really works :D
