Monitor display goes blank

Recently while i am working on my pc the monitor suddenly goes blank. it has happened twice. Oce it came back immediately and the other time i had to go to standby mode and then back to get the display. i think the green power led on the monitor is still ON. So the signal might be there. Is my monitor dying?

Maybe problem with the display adapter or the cable. Monitor is not getting proper connection.

Yes the monitor is getting the signal alright. I noticed that whenever it happens the green power LED is ON (not blinking) and if you switch OFF the monitor and then power ON it again then the display comes back.Might be something loose in the monitor. its been repaired of late as it was damaged due to a power surge.
