Cant connect net through Switch.

Hi all,I;ve 2 cmputers .one desktop nd 2nd Laptop.i want to use Internet nd lan connection through Switch (not managbl) with at a atime.I have tried to connect through staright cable but unsucces.can u tell me how to do?:confused:
