View Full Version : Registry Editing DISABLED

GUys,
I use WIN XP PRO+Sp2
I recently tried to add a entry into the registry (by double clicking on the .reg file) But it said
Registry Editing has been disabled by your administrator
I use the PC at my home adn I have never faced this error message as I myself am the Administrator ("ANAND" is the name the PC shows as the user on START tab)
I was able to change/add registry values jus 2-3 days back, and now suddenly this, plz help.. i knw I hv to change sum parameters, so tell me wat they are.. :(

Type gpedit.msc in RUN dialog box and goto User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System in right-side pane, set “Prevent access to Registry editing tools” to either Not Configured or Disabled
or
Just type following in RUN dialog box and press ENTER
REG add KCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Poli cies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Also, Im getting these error boxes:

sumbody had the same problem

and BTW is ur registry access problem solved?
if not then you may frst wan2 run a good AV scan and then try to re-enable it if it does not get re-enabled by itself

Well. the reg problem is not getting solved, the PC hangs.. :( Im usin avast pro edition

run a scan with trial ver of KAV or NOD32 - better AV IMO

Well the MSINET.OCX problem got solced by the link given by slugger :) thanx
Now this rundll.exe, is it a virus or wat?? pl;z suggest..

is ur registry problem solved?
where is the rundll.exe file located - C:\WINDOWS\system32 or C:\WINDOWS\ are the legit location
anywhere else will be problem
BTW did u not run KAV or NOD32 trial
any mailcious rundll file wud have been detected by it and removed
