Hi All,

I have hp laptop dv2601tx with pre-installed Vista Home Edition. I want to create a PC-Laptop LAN. I have 2 cross over ethernet cable.

At home i use BSNL broadband Internet, in my motherboard i have 2 LAN ports, one of the LAN port i have set it to the BSNL router (IP 192.168.1.100) and other port i have set it to 192.168.1.101, with Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0, in my laptop i have set the IP to 192.168.1.102.

Whenever i connect the Ethernet cable and enable the network it says Connection successfull in my PC (XP), and Limited Connectivity in Laptop (Vista), when i try to ping from PC to Laptop i get request timed out error.

Again i removed the ethernet cable and put it into the LAN Port, now it shows Cable unplugged.

can i know what i should do to create my Network.

to create a lan connection between Vista and XP u need to download and install the LInk Layer Topology driver for XP.only then shall u be able to create a successful lan connection.
