Please modify the topic to "How well a Linux Distro can be customized" to maintain a small footprint and use minimal resources? Well heres an example. The last thing I need is for people believe Im trying to sponsor some kind of Ubuntu Revolution.....

Just as a side note to some age-old suggestions about using fbpanel and Openbox to mock up the default Ubuntu layout, chris4585 sent a screenshot of a system that does just that. And his is a good deal better than the rather dull ones I made, a little while ago.

Look at the conky and check out the processor and amount of RAM in it.

He has a guide of customizing Ubuntu posted on his site. It explains the process he uses.

It contains a huge guide on how to speed up Ubuntu (Maybe it might work for other distros as well). Definitely a must read.
