^ no way buddy .... HDD enclosures are of 2.5" amd 3.5" ..... whereas , the Optical Disc enclosures are of size 5.25" :D ..

So better buy a new one :) ..... i meant they look similar in terms of their views !

I have a question on tht external casing - I bought 1 casing for my hdd - IDE to USB casing, but the encloser is too bad of tht casing, if I screw-up the casing it is unable to recnize the drive while if I keep it open just conecting the ports it works ( but not very good, sometimes it miss the hdd).
Would u give me any solution for that?

Maybe I am a bit late but why don't you try a IDE/USB converter like this (http://www.techtree.com/India/Reviews/TECH-COM_USB_20_to_IDE_Cable/551-68481-611.html) ? I have been using one with my DVD writer for about a year now...cost me around Rs. 300 at that time ;) I have burned hundreds of DVDs since then ...not a single failure till now :D

really good option, but I sould tell you externally used devices go bad mostly due to power supply, if the power cord is removed abruptly.

Point noted...but why would the power cord be removed abruptly ? ;) Like I said I faced no problem during last one year :p

Well, I see one interesting thing.
LG GSA-E60L priced Rs1999 in Tata Star Bazzar.
I have been looking for external writers, by putting into casing.
Here in bangalore, S.P. Road, I see the older model GSA-E40L is available and they price it around 3K.
Also, any DVD writer + casing would cost around 2K only

Damn star bazzar people should have put atleast a sony external writer
I would be real happy if anyone can suggest me on this. Guys need assistance.

Can anyone give any comparision about LG GSA H55N, against Samsung Sh203 or any Sony writer.
Ok, I forgot to add, there is one liteon also available priced 1850 in S.P road.
