Yahoo! unveiled the latest version of its mobile search service — Yahoo! oneSearch 2.0, at the CTIA (News (http://www.tmcnet.com/snapshots/snapshots.aspx?Company=CTIA) - Alert (http://www.tmcnet.com/enews/subs.aspx?k1=CTIA)) wireless convention held at Las Vegas earlier this week.
ahoo’s search platform for mobile phones was first launched about a year ago. The latest offering incorporates voice-enabled search to the mobile search platform and offers contextual recommendations that promises to make Yahoo’s mobile search more appealing to its users.
Yahoo! oneSearch adapts to the user’s voice and improves over every successive use. It also offers smart suggestions based on the user’s query and offers predictive search. The consumer has the option of switching from conventional text based search to voice search and vice versa. The oneSearch service can be used to obtain information on anything ranging from restaurants to airline status to movie showtimes and sports scores. Unlike conventional voice recognition systems, which may be confined to a few basic vocabularies, the search service from yahoo offers a much wider choice.
