How to create a bootsplash ? I want to change the default Kubuntu 1 and I find 1 too but it is in .tar.gz its not in .so format . So I thought I must try creating my own Bootsplash ?So any help from Tux experts here :p A simple guide would be a lot better :) jahan dekho SUSE ke alawa kuch milta hi nahi ::||

i think you downloaded the usplash source package.try the following steps after extracting files from archive.

1. sudo apt-get usplash-dev
- Installs usplash-dev package

2. make
- Compiles splashtheme

then you will get a *.so file.install the theme with startup-manager.

I know how to change Bootsplash :| I wanna know how to create it :)

@ abhi: That's not working :| Though I am installing it via Adept :p

startupmanager is a must :-|

a easy way is to install splashy instead of usplash :p.

u can change grub theme by adding splashimage= option.(or use startupmanager-apt-get install it!)
