When i try to Download Windows Media Player 10 From The Microsoft
Website,I am shown that Version 7.1 is the BEst for My OS.

Is there any way to circumvent this & Install WMP 10 on Windows 98?
Or Do I have to make do with Version 7.1 only?

You can not install WMP 10 in Win98. Win98 supports upto WMP 9 ONLY. You can go for WMP 9.

yeah SWATKAT is right... WMP10 is only for all editions of Windows XP only...

if ur looking WMP for playing WMA/WMV Files... then just instal the codes from WindowsMedia.com and most of media players [winamp/real...] support WMA...

My PC Just Crashed.......

When I tried Downloading WMP 9 from the Microsoft Website,First of all,
DAP opened and then I got an error message that "This Program has done
Something Illegal & will be Shut Down"

Then a BSOD Cropped up with the Following message:"A Fatal Exception OE has occuredat 0147:005ED2.The Currecnt Application Will be Terminated"

I had to Restart My System Manually.....
What Might have been the cause of error???

Try clearing your temp files before installing the new one.

You can not install WMP 10 in Win98. Win98 supports upto WMP 9 ONLY. You can go for WMP 9.

I Cleaned the Temp Files before Installing but once again the BSOD
that I've described above popped up.And I haven't tried hence....

And aadipa,If its untested then I don' wanna try it.Jus' while Installing
WMP 9,My PC crashed so I don' wanna put more load onto it....

i think you must specify ur system hardware (CPU, RAM and free HDD space). i think 128MB RAM is decent and enough for WMP9, hey i installed it on windows ME from a Digit CD (you may be having it!), so keep trying maybe its the website from which you are downloading, try changing the source ?
