I have ACER 4710 lappy with 160gb HDD. Currently I have 5 partitions viz, C,D,E,F,G! I have VISTA installed in Drive C. My drive D is completely empty(but formatted though!).

Now the problem is when I install XP it shows my D drive as F, similarly Drives E,F,G are also displayed with different letters. After the installation of XP in drive D(which it shows as F) , i checked it in VISTA WHICH SHOWED THEM WITH CORRECT LETTERS (i.e from C to G) but again if i start my XP THEN IT SHOWS THE DIFFENT DRIVE LETTERS( D now is F in XP n others too get changed)

PLEASE HELP ME GUYS HOW TO CORRECT IT!!

Change the drive letters as you want using Disk Management.

maybe your vista is not in c. Vista shows any partition it is installed in as C. So thats what causing all this confusion. what XP is showing is the real drive C.

xp n vista both shows the same drive as C.
again here it is the partition configuration

partition no----drive letter in vista------drive letter in xp
0--------------------C----------------------C
1--------------------D----------------------F
2--------------------E----------------------E
3--------------------F----------------------G
4--------------------G----------------------D

Just put a good label on each volume and get it over with that way. :p

I've experienced this too, with Vista making whichever drive it is installed upon post XP its C.
