Montevina notebook platform was known as the next big thing in mobile computing for quite some time. But little did we knew that it was so huge that Intel decided to label it as a new Centrino (http://www.laptoplogic.com/news/detail.php?id=4427&PHPSESSID=7cbd2c899a553d34553c5ab029a88163) series and not just a generation of the original Centrino platform.


The Montevina Centrino 2 plaform will replace the existing Santa Rosa (http://www.laptoplogic.com/resources/detail.php?id=63&PHPSESSID=7cbd2c899a553d34553c5ab029a88163) Centrino platform in June 2008. Centrino 2 will comprise of new Penryn-based Intel mobile processors featuring 1066MHz FSB speed and new mobile chipset. Integrated graphics on the platform would offer twice the performance of the existing ones. Intel plans to split the platform in Centrino 2 and Centrino 2 vPro.
