Amazing Line Of Marketing - aXXo’s Pirated Movies Used to Promote the iMac

The DVD ripper aXXo is without a doubt one of the most popular DVD-rippers. Even though he hasn’t been active since November 2007, his rips are still widely used, even by commercial outlets such as the John Lewis store. They must have thought, “Why use a real DVD if we can use a pirated movie for free?”

The aXXo rip was shown on an iMac displayed on an Apple stand at a John Lewis store. A member of the Hexus forums discovered this remarkable promotional material, and writes: “So I was in my local John Lewis store a week or so back, and I was checking out their new little Apple mac area, which had lots of Macs on display, with some desks setup and other accessories. They also had some wall mounted iMacs. Imagine my surprise when getting closer to one of them to see ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’ - ripped by Axxo playing.”

When I was working at International Film Festival Of India, for the grand opening they had sort of some tunnel with LCDs mounted on the top. And guess what they were playing on them. 5-in-1 DVDs! I'm like WTF! Piracy can't get more official than this!

I enjoy HD movies. However, I don't mind watching 1.4GB rips as well cause they at least come with decent sound. But aXXo seemed to have been stuck in the stone ages. 700MB rips just don't cut it these days. The problem here is that my idiot friends used to always download these crappy rips because of god knows what reason. These people are those who watch a movie for the sake of watching it. Even a CAM print is fine. So I had to get the same movie again because of this nonsense. Now there is no aXXo, so they are forced to get the bigger files (in many cases at least).

There. That was my problem. I should have maybe put "My world is a better place...", but it just sounded better referring to mankind as a whole.

aXXo rips sucks. Only good thing is for people who like low data rips and who just want to watch the movie (but then you can go for TC/TS/CAM/DVD SCR rips).

He just re encodes the 1.4 GB and uploads his rips with the aXXo stamp. It's MP3 audio codec, bad resolution (watch in any decent res. - above 1280X800, you'll know what I mean). Do a Gspot for a aXXo and a 1.4 (say DiAMOND) and there'll be a sea of difference.

Ever wondered why he releases his rips well after we have other rips lying around?


Please keep the discussions to the technical aspects. Comments like "aXXo deserves noble", "You'll be murdered", "you committed sin.." etc won't be tolerated. Don't act childish. We know you love P2P but we need to respect the rules as well. 3 members (so called "senior members") were banned in the last 3 days. So hold your horses...

@goobi everybody likes to they HD content. I for one would definitely like some HD porn. But when you're downloading from the net size does matter. And the smaller the better. Most people don't have ultra fast download speeds nor unlimited download limit. In such situation aXXo's rips offer a fine balance of quality and size. The aXXo rips that I have are definitely of good quality, they're just low resolution and are stereo and not multichannel. But they're fine for me.

Plus my machine isn't really comfortable with HD. So for people like me and Pathik, aXXo rips are great.

@grudge chill dude. I was just joking. goobi can have his grapes. And the strawberries. And nor do I love P2P (never used it) nor aXXo (never once did he come home for dinner).

not everyone owe Logitech 5500 & 22" widescreen TFT..for ppl like them it does matter...but aXXo well known for quality/size ratio...
and poor ppl like us who wake up on 256 kbps connection...nothing but gift..

IMHO, DiAMOND & SAPHiRE are the best in Ripping. ;)
aXXo on the other hand does not follow the so called principles of ripping.
Most of his rips are pixelated and audio looks like you are listening in a cave. :mad:

gneral there are two extremes...one set of ppl are fan of him..the other set always tries to low down his popularity by submitting fake rips that they are either jealous or want some fame or so.

One good example of Pixelated movie is Superman Returns, the movie has some dead pixels at random intervals.IMHO, a good DVDRip is one which is made from a reliable source and does not contain Dead Pixels.
About flaming, I dont mind if its aXXo or any other ripper, as long as DVDRips are of good quality anybody is welcome.;)

I guess aXXo is fine on a 15" monitor with 2.0 sound system. For anything else it's got to be something more worthwhile. I can't figure out what aXXo was thinking when he made Pirates of the Caribbean (dead man's chest). That rip was blotchy, horrible sound, and well, unwatcheable. Thank god for the HD revolution!
