Yeah way to go Russia/Linux :)
Russian OS is to be installed on every school computer in Russia by 2009. Furthermore, every pupil will get the opportunity to operate the applied software produced in Russia, Leonid Reiman, acting Minister of Communication stated at a press conference. Experts and market participants consider the terms within which software is to be developed quite reasonable. According to Mr. Reiman, that might significantly reduce Russian dependence on foreign software.

In Kerala, Linux is already on every school. They use a special distribution called "School IT Linux".

BTW Linux is growing, really growing. But it still needs some polish and some fixes here and there to match Windows or Mac. ;)

Why does CadCrazy act like he is a Mod ?

anyway, country specific distros are a huge plus. China has Red Flag Linux. Russia has Russian OS. India has ___________. Please fill the blank with a PROPER and GOOD LOOKING Distro Indian Government develops in the future.

The govt must allot funds to make and develop its own distro. It will be a very good investment. It can be based on current standards like Debian, for suffitient support, and it must also be localised. But it mustn't give the appearence of something poor internationally.

It needs to be cool looking, work well on *Indian Systems*, have a version/mode to run well in our old computers, as well as a version/mode look great on a Multimedia/HiFi/HomeTheater PC, AND be taught in schools and collages and also installed in computers there instead of windows.

These guys who run the nation are still a part of the "Old India" where illitracy, casteism, discrimination, superstition, religion, crazy moral values, etc exist, so they can't make one. But I hope atleast us in "Cool India" can make such a distro.
