state your budget. because for 5k, you can get:

VIA Chipset Motherboard with Onboard Graphics: 1.6K
AMD Sempron Processor - a basic model : 1.6k
1 GB DDR667 RAM - 0.8K

extra 1k - use it to either get a second hand grafix card(low end) or a better proccy instead.
The processor I am talking about isn't half bad, and is comparable to a P4 in performance.
Just go and burn some calories in SP Road for the above config :)
