Goto the BIOS and Load the Default settings and see if it works (before doing that make a note of the BIOS settings in case you may wanna revert back).
Btw, which program gives the OverVoltage error? It has to be BIOS; coz no program in windows will ask you to press F1!

thanks, but i left vista and trying linux but i keep on getting the error 1529 "mismatch in directory entry". when i try using partition magic to partition the hdd for linux
i searched google and various different other forums but to no success. i have used Acronis Disk Director but had no luck. i have tried all the windows utilities including the check disk and the disk defragmentor but to no use. please help.
P.S. i have no idea about how to get gparted live cd to work. i dont know which one to choose in the boot menu. help would be greatly praised and thanked for.

Maybe the PSu is pumping overvoltage. Just try another PSu. Dont buy one yet Just try one from friend's nd if it work, by one.

Regarding partitioning and gparted, it'd help if you create a separate thread in OSS section.
