Hmmm... there is no additional features as such...but u get additional softwares like nero showtime/ powerDVD.
My opinion:
1. Benq 16X burner : Benq 1600/1620 ->Same drive (1600), can be flashed into the 1620 (done by the company themselves) , officially using a Benq sanctioned firmware.Superb reviews out at CDRLabs and CDFreaks, indicate this is "THE" drive to own.
Cost: rs. 4500
2. Sony 720-b
A very good drive, only the second best after benQ
Cost: rs. 4.8k
3. LG-4120B and 4160B
The good thing about LD drives is the can write almost all formats, including DVD- RAM
Cost: 5K
Cost of other drives:
Samsung 16X :Rs.5K
Liteon 16X :Rs.5.5k
Pioneer 16X :Rs.5,000
Plextor PX-716 A - 6.5K
NEC gives good writing speeds but unfortunetly not marketed in India.

between the 2, I'd choose the LG drive. DVD-RAM hasn't been fully implemented yet, but it is a cool feature to have.
maybe you should also look at the benq 1620. that, along with the LG 4163 are the hottest dvd writers in the market right now (also the nec 3520... but i dont think thats available in india). do ur research and choose the drive that suits u best. Google is ur friend.

I've burnt more than 2 spindles (100 dvd-r's each) of Ritek G04 media
with Pioneer D-107. Absolutely no duds.
Unfortunately, I had to sell it off as I was moving. I'm in the market for
another Pioneer. Maybe D-109 (16x).
I'd suggest, from my experience, to buy a Pioneer. Innovative technology,
very silent and vibration free.
Sony's are just rebadged LITEON's (in Australia). LITEON are also
OEM suppliers for Compaq/HP, I think.
Liteon users have reported problems with el cheapo Princo and
Shintaro media.
NEC's are great for
their price - about AUD 90 (INR 3060). Only
LG's are popular too.
My advice - get any drive, see what media works best with it
and stick to it. Don't buy spindles of 100's etc till you know for
sure they have a good yield rate with your drive i.e. less coasters.
I can guarantee -
Princo (el cheapo),
Ritek G04, G05 (excellent, sometimes branded
as Ricoh) and
Taio Yuden (best media on this planet, TY01, made in Japan
TDK's are Taio Yuden's )
- will work well with Pioneer drives.
Cheers,
Keith
