Hello folks.

I am located in Kolkata. I am looking for an used MacBook / Pro. If anyone has any proper leads, it will be greatly appreciated through +reps. I need it before this year ends or at max by mid Jan. It is very important to me. So genuine leads only please.

Also, if someone can sell me a new one at half the price, you're welcome to try, but I am not to be scammed! :P

I have a 17-inch MacBook Pro with a brand new logic board, display, casing, speakers, SuperDrive, MagSafe power cord and battery (because they have all been replaced today). It looks and works like a machine that has just been taken out of the box and has more than a year of (global) warranty left. It features a 2.16GHz Core Duo processor, 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM, 4MB L2 cache, 120GB 5400rpm hard drive and an ATI Radeon X1600 256MB graphics card. It came pre-installed with Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger, iLife ’06 and Comic Life.

If you want, I can give it to you with any Apple software pre-installed and also bundle in DVDs (not original, of course). For e.g.: Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, iLife ’08, iWork ’08, Aperture 2, Final Cut Studio 2, Logic Studio and Shake 4. I’ll even install stuff like Adobe Creative Suite 3, Microsoft Windows (XP or Vista) and Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac but there will be a nominal extra charge for that. As an added bonus, I’ll give you an iTunes account that you can use to download free content from the iTunes Store and get high resolution album artwork from. If you want, I can throw in the bag I carry it in. It cost me Rs. 2,000 and is one of the very few that can comfortably accommodate it. The bag looks crappy though, which is why I don’t mind giving it away for free.

I can sell it for Rs. 92,768.00 and will send it in the original box with the original documentation, optical media and bundled accessories. Shipping charges are extra* for anyone outside West Bengal. It was purchased for Rs. 1,60,000 and the AppleCare Protection Plan (worth Rs. 15,000) was added to it later. A brand new 17-inch MacBook Pro sells for Rs. 1,30,000 today. You’d be saving about Rs. 40,000 for a virtually off-the-shelf product and you also get an Apple Remote along with it (the new models don’t ship with one).

Any takers?

*If I or you know someone who’s traveling from Siliguri to your city and I can send it along with them, then no charges for you. In other words, I’ll only charge whatever I’m paying—no extras.

I live in Siliguri but I, along with my notebook, am going to be in Kolkata tomorrow. If you want, we can meet up so that you can see it is person. :)

As for original pictures, I'll upload them in a couple of days but let me assure you, it looks exactly like it does in the picture I posted. The display, keyboard, entire casing, speakers, motherboard, battery are all brand new because they were replaced at an Apple Authorised Service Centre a week ago, so the machine looks like it has been freshly pulled out of its box. Ever the power cord is new so it's shiny White and everything. :)

(I cannot upload the pictures now because the notebook is still with the technician. I'm going to Kolkata to fetch it. In case you wanna know, I'm selling it because I've purchased a brand new iMac and won't be needing the MacBook Pro anymore.)
