there are quiet a few speakers from that list in my budget range.....
like altec lansing 251, creative sbs560, creative inspire 2400, logitech m50mm.....
but the thing is will any one of the above be compatible with my laptop???
there are only two holes in my laptop for connecting the speaker.....and i think there are three jackks in some of the above speakers....thats the main problem......

It is very hard to compare two good brands. But I think creative 5.1 inspire best suits your budget.

Go for Creative Inspire T6060 5.1 set. It's damn good. Don't confuse between the basic Inspire 5.1 and T6060. There is lot of difference between these two. T6060 should cost around 3.6k

read the manual of the laptop....if it support 5.1 speaker than only buy 5.1 speaker.
Else buy 2.1 speaker.

Checked the manual of your laptop. It only has stereo out.

well read somewhere that altec lansing is trying to replace atp3 with vs4121 model.. its quite similar in specs and has a headphone jack too(not sure bout this).. u can chk the details on alteclansing's website..
as for the speakers its based on ur need.. if u watch movies go for 5.1, else 2.1 should suffice, specially if space is a premium and u do't like messy wires around
