They might not have hidden terms but they do have (un)-hidden Goondas willing to do anything to get the money back!
Private banks will stop at nothing to get their money back, in this country if you want to be safe, go for national banks like SBI.

hates ICICI for their Goondayism.even i saw a man protesting infront of HDFC cochin branch as they send "Recovery agents aka Gunda log" and threatened him to pay back.
My Idea-always stick with ur state's State Bank or SBI.for eg:I stick with State Bank of Travancore, subsidiary of SBI which is approachable by farmers and Elites with same respect.also they gave most of the facilities new banks offer and are core-banking enabled.
these new gen banks meant crap for us farmers and other small enterprises owners.they sucks the last drop of blood out of you.
Get urself a PNB(punjab national bank) card or a SBI card rather than going for that ICICI(looters!)
for getting new facilites and night banking,ICICI have another face -a villain for loan takers(vehicles esp).

I don't know about the others, but ICICI is the ratz. Loads of hidden charges, awful customer service (just go to close an account and see the grumpy faces. They wouldn't give me a pen!), and spamming.

I hv HDFC Gold credit card(Lifetime free) I think it's one of the best..I get charged only when I use it..If i pay the due within the due date then nothin else..u r releived..Personally I prefer payin the due's within the due date or atleast the minimum due's.
I also hate ICICI, SBI. I applied for lifetime free deutsche CC but got rejected when failed to attend their verific cal frm pune.
Now hv applied for Barclays(Lifetime free) Hope it satisfies me like HDFC.
Note - My frnd has deutsche, but we applied for it due to CC design..Selectin our design.

For credit card, bank account in that bank is not required, I have HDFC and citibank card, and no account in those bank.
sbi is good .......
hows dena bank ?
@clmlbx
While the BANK issue a credit card, they look for a lot of things - like whether the person wil lbe able to pay the amount, how much he earn, whats his profession, howz the bank statement etc etc. And if they do not find much supporting things, they will suggest us to deposit some amount in the bank, but that is not the same in all cases.
For example, if you are working for some MNC or very reputed company, they will not check much, they will give you CC very fast.
Bank account is also not a must for getting CC, but as I mentioned above, sometimes they change the criterea and ask us to open an account.

Actually you SHOULD NOT take a card from your bank. They tie it to your account and bill you without asking, arbitrary charges. So you get billed first, then fight later.

I have a Deutsche Bank credit card...and till date I have no probs with it. I got that easily too (I applied for it bcuz of Sania's pic on it)...
ICICI and SBI have appeared on news for using goons as recovery agents. I would suggest do not go for them. None of the credit cards require you to have a bank account with them (so minimum balance thing is not for real).
I have ABN AMRO card too. But the only prob is their rate of interest is too high (if you miss payment) and another thing, their marketing executives will make your life hell. I get around 3-4 calls daily from their Delhi office and I am really pi**ed.
Deutsche and ABN Amro cards are Master Cards. Having an ICICI (Visa) card will be helpful. One of my close friend is using ICICI Platinum card. He is very happy with it.

I have a HDFC Silver credit card which I got with my HDFC salary account.
I have this card from the past 4 years.
That time my salary was Rs 7000 and hence I got a credit limit of only Rs 12000. I have not had any problems with the card.
I use the card and pay the bill before the due date.
The thing is that now I am earning around 25-30 K but my credit limit is still Rs 12K.
This is ridiculous.
I am going to dump this card as I am getting offers from ICICI, Citibank etc for a gold card with 60-80 K credit limit.
I have one question.
My current statement shows I have earned some 900 odd reward points till this date.
What are these reward points?
Will they expire after Dec31?
I want to avail any possible benefit from them before I dump this HDFC card.
HDFC subscribers! Do you have any clues?

Bump...
I am going to dump this card very soon.
Right after I get the statement for the current billing month.
Someone please tell me what can I do with these reward points.
I have app. 900 odd of them.
Please does anyone know what to do with these 900 reward points cos they will go waste soon.

Hi,
I have been using credit cards for almost 1.5 years after getting a job. Initially I got a gold credit card from HSBC. The service was good but there were not many offers available on that card. Around 1 year ago, I started using SBI gold credit card and till date I have not used any other card. The SBI credit card is really good, the service is excellent and you get to speak to the customer care number without any waiting.
Also they give frequent offers on card usage. One that was most convenient for me was to pay in 3 equal installments the amount used for purchasing my laptop. They did not charge any interest and only some processing fee of around 300/-. Also recently, they have upgraded my gold credit card to a platinum one.
All in all, I would suggest that if you are looking for good service, then go for SBI credit card. Also my advice to all card users, please treat your card the same way you treat your cash and make sure to clear all you dues every month. This way, you will save a lot of interests and will be an efficient credit card user.
