Urgent help- cant log in-registry problem

Last nite while editing registry i accidently deleted USERINIT registry: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\USERINIT.EXE

so today when i try to log in i am logged out before i see the desktop.
plz help me to revert the settings back.

can you boot in safe mode...........
I am scared..you need to repair your XP using XP Recovery Console.

yes can boot in safe mode too.
But still that login screen comes up and i m logged out.
I m goin to reinstall XP on different partition.
Just another question. Will I lose the data on an already existing partion if I install XP on tht partition?
