I've got the following rig:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Socket 939
MSI RS-480M2 motherboard
1x512MB DDR 400Mhz RAM
160GB Seagate SATA + 40GB Western Digital PATA HDDs
LiteOn DH-201AP DVD Writer
Samsung Combo Drive
Floppy drive
Creative dial-up modem
Techcom 350W PSU

I recently got a XFX 8600 GT XXX card. I still haven't installed it. Since most games require you to have 1GB memory, I don't know if I should buy the RAM or a new PSU should be bought for this card. I'm ready to remove the combo drive, floppy drive and the dial-up modem to get the required power for the card in case the PSU is not enough with all the peripherals attached. I checked out a few sites, which says that the gfx card needs a min. of 350W PSU. I have exactly Rs.1000 and I'm deciding on either the RAM or PSU. So, what should I buy?

you need a new PSU to power the gfx card and you need xtra ram to play good games. So you need both :D

:( :( So, I just might buy the PSU as well. I think I'll be going for a 500W PSU. Any suggestions as to which to go for? I can't afford a costly one.

Zebronics 450 / PowerSafe 450 / ColorSit 450 watts may serve the purpose as I have ran 8600 GT with 2 GB and C2D under 450 watts :) they will be around Rs. 850/- :) 500 watts of these brand would be around Rs. 1200 to 1400 :)

I have a local 450W PSU. Even im having a 8600GT and AMD 6000+ procy. Its good enough and the 8600GT is not power hungry compared to other 8 series cards.:D
