I have an Intl 845 motherboard, with PATA IDE connectors.
Can I connect SATA hard disks and DVD-RW by using SATA to PATA connector?

It would be useless to do so (dont know if its pssible).
You will be downgrading SATA speed to PATA speed.
Why spend extra money for SATA drives?

SATA drives are cheaper these days. And if I happen to upgrade my whole rig I won't like to dump my drives.
So I feel its always better to use newer technology.

get your self a SATA PCI card , its about 500 bucks.
