The best free domain is .uni.cc. Comes with DNS :)

DNS and Google Apps support available at .CO.CC as well
.TK is crap with all its forced labels
.co.nr also requires a link back and also doesn't support DNS for Bhukha Nanga free users like me.

I' ve used .CO.cc and .co.nr both

co.nr was down for 2-3 days just a couple of weeks back.
their redirecting is however faster than .co.cc (only marginally)
but they don't support FAVICONS ( which .co.cc does)

my sites

www.saurabhpatel.co.cc
www.saurabhpatel.co.nr

P.S. Favicons are tiny icons like the d at thinkdigit.com or y at yahoo.com

Problem with .co.cc is it shows pop up whenever a user places cursor on the border of the window ! Too irritating.. Best is .co.nr for me... just needs a URL to be added to your homepage. Could be done so easily that users won't even see it ;)
