cnt detect external HDD

hey .. jst bought a 120 gb external hard drive.. i have vista .. whn i first plugged in d external hard drive ,it installed itself automatically ..

i retstarted d laptop .. n nw whn i plugged in d external HDD ... even though i get a 'click' sound n get the 'safely remove hardware' sign in d taskbar .bt theres no extra drive in 'my computer' n i cnt access d HDD ..

please help ..

ps:even d light on d external HD is on ..

i forgot to format ... did it .. nw its working fine .
