how could u guyz do digit readers a misery of putting Microsoft® Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) tool in the essential section. thiz amazes me becoz in your march 2005 issue you had paublished a excerpt from PC-Mag issue of feb 2005 saying that their reviewer telling that this tool itself is a spyware, and that it has some kind of contact with microsoft's site or should i say they have some valuable data collected from our machine and updated to their some kind of ---*** data server ***---.

this forum is gr8 .this forum has helped me lot of times ,but i dont think the magzine is not concentrating on the 64 bit OS .A lot of people have a 64 bit system but they have a 32 bit OS running on it,The world is evolving and so should we and i seriously think there should be a column on 64 bit OS(LINUX or WINXP 64) for a 64 bit system,i hope i will be able 2 see a column in the april issue& also i would be happy 2 have a 64 OS (XP 64 or LINUX) on the april DVD.

Whoa, please post your "By Demand" posts (demanding software) in the By Demand May 2005 thread available here (http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17271)

The DVDs autorun.inf file was corrupted during replication. In order to run the interface, please:
1. Insert the DVD into your drive
2. Open Windows Explorer to your DVD drive
3. Double-click on the "start.hta" file

Other known issues with the DVD this time include:
Incorrect links to Palm software. Please Explorer the DVD and navigate to Digital Tools > Palm to install the software provided.

If you get confused with all that software there, and wonder which is the one you wanted to install, please do the following while at the "Palm" section in the interface:
1. Right-click on the "Install" button / image alongside the software you wish to install
2. Select "Copy Link Address"
3. Open a new Windows Explorer / Internet Explorer window
4. Paste the link in the address bar and look for a double slash ( // )
5. Remove one slash and press [Enter]

This error only happens for the Palm software in the DVD, everything else runs perfectly. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to Palm users.

Raboo there is something worng man.
My and my friend both received courrupted DVDs.
My 3rd courrupted DVD/CD in this year.first one was Feb issue DVD, but i got the DVD from my friend who bought the magazine from stand so i did not requested for replacement as i simply copied the contents i wanted that time. the second one was last month but it was CD so it did not matter as DVD was ok.
But happened this month again.
I have 3 PCs with 4 different DVD rome drives and 3 different CDRW drives. So its highly unlikely that my drives are the problems as old DVDs are working just fine in all of them.
Have you changed your replication media or contractor in past few month? I am sking bcoz i personally know 3 more who ar facing same problem.
Please lok into this. I have dispatched email to help@jasubhai.com I hope i get the replacement soon.

By the way doubleclicking start.hta sile opens a blank window for me. nothing else happens. I went into individual folders and clocked the exe files but it opens and closes command prompt window and nothing happens. ITs surely 100% courrupted.

Even my DVD was corrupted. On starting app's it reported a Win 32 error, and wallpapers did not work. Also start.hta had no effect.

What about the News stand buyers! We are paying more for faulty dvds. I exchanged more than 3 times and all DVDs are faulty! My Drive is fine and runs all old Digit DVD & movies, Only April DVD doesn't work. :(

I have posted in other thread "Digit makes us April Fool", but since Raabo has replied in this particular thread, I want to re-state that I too, got faulty DVD. Nothing is working, not least which is auto-run feature. Double clicking start.htm results in white window pop-up with and nothing more. All the software, zip files, wallpapers, movies EEVRYTHING is inaccessible...this is some crazy stuff.

And really, Digit can't be partial in this case about subscribers...we news stand buyers who pay more clearly deserve same treatment as subscribers (if you are going to replace their DVD's) if not more.

@Dig : is it possible to buy an issue directly from the Dig chennai office (if there is one) instead of getting it at the newstand and if found corrupted asking for a replacement ? . that way we might be able to even get it checked for errors if any . i think u have an office near nungambakkam landmark , here in chennai .

My April'05 DVD and also CD both are not working.
No autoplay.
all corrupted exes
all bad zips
all bad movie trailers
wallpapers are not opening.
all files do not open.

Total bad CD/DVDs. I changed my CD/DVD 3 times.
All were corrupted. The CD/DVD are not burned properly.
What to do now? Whom to contact?
I am from Pune.
Please help!!!

Start.hta just opens a window, nothing else.
Are bhai if autorun was courrupted then wont the folders be accessible where we could run the setup by doubleclicking the file? But it dosent happen. exe files do not launch setup for any file. No images open, nothing.

The only folder that is acessible is DIgital Business.
Thats all that is working. Nothing else.

i recommend use of the patron code to verfy purchase and send dvd by filling a form on net.

u can do one thing .... ship the correct DVD to all your subscribers ....

and ship the correct DVD to all the news stands in country ..... just as u send the magazines .....

and the news-stand buyers can giv the old/non-working DVDs and exchange it with the new ones ......

and still if news-stand buyers dont get their correct DVD then take their address and ship it to their address ...... and ask them to return their DVD ....

i think .... digit has to bear all the cost ...bcoz it was their fault .....

The DVDs autorun.inf file was corrupted during replication. In order to run the interface, please:
1. Insert the DVD into your drive
2. Open Windows Explorer to your DVD drive
3. Double-click on the "start.hta" file

Other known issues with the DVD this time include:
Incorrect links to Palm software. Please Explorer the DVD and navigate to Digital Tools > Palm to install the software provided.

If you get confused with all that software there, and wonder which is the one you wanted to install, please do the following while at the "Palm" section in the interface:
1. Right-click on the "Install" button / image alongside the software you wish to install
2. Select "Copy Link Address"
3. Open a new Windows Explorer / Internet Explorer window
4. Paste the link in the address bar and look for a double slash ( // )
5. Remove one slash and press [Enter]

This error only happens for the Palm software in the DVD, everything else runs perfectly. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to Palm users.

This was the last issue ofmy subscription. I was gona send the renewal form, signed the cheque, was about to courier this and I stopped.

and i can't believe its only 300 DVDs that are corrupt. We can't be tat unlucky to find a place in top 300. :P Somethings seriously wrong and digit should provide replacement DVDs ASAP. I for one, can't wait till next month...

Its not ok for anyone. You paid 100 bucks and got the magazine just to fing out it DVD is not working.
We paid Rs2700 in advance and still same situation.
Noone is ok with this.............
And the worst part is since they realised how big the problem is they are not responding.

I can understand if they are planning to do something about it.
But atleast get back to us, atleast reply in this thread telling us what they are gona do about it.

I have a suggestion.. Since no one's DVDs are working.. DIGIT can do this..

So, they can include all the DVD contents of APR 2005 (which are not in CD) in the MAY 2005 DVD (excluding worthless programs like Essentials, a few Shareware progs.. And add good content in MAY 2005 DVD (like more wallppaers including what is already there, good freeware full version games, etc...)

They need to check DVDs after the replication.
I am not saying that check each dvd but atleast few random sample quality check is necessary.

Also they should stop including the things that are in CD onto DVD totally.
I mean whats the use? ok people who dont have DVD drive cant read DVDs but those with DVDs can use both CDs and DVDs. Why waste 700MB from DVD just replication whats already there on the CD?

Use that space for extra game demos or extra goodies.

DVD is not working but i also noticed one more thing.

Many of the applications i installed from CD (utilities etc. ) are outdated. Their last versions were launched in 2002. So, i stopped using software from this months' CD too.

APRIL 2005 was the last time I bought DIGIT

Why I say that is because of this:

a) The DVD (highly hiped) didnt work at all

b.) Not only that the competetors are giving me 2 CDs and One DVD which works on all DVD drives which includes mine as well.

Team Digit feels that the RULE this market but.......
Unfortunately the DVD of APRIL 2005 puts a very huge BLACK mark on their reputition.

Not only that I got the whole set replaced THRICE and still my DVD is faulty.

First time on the APRIL fools day I got the magazine.. When I put DVD into the DVD drive it DIDNT START AT ALL

Next time ... whatever I clicked the PROGRAM RAN in DOS and said INSUFFICIENT MEMORY to run the PROGRAM( I have 512MB of RAM)

The same happened the THIRD TIME but for a change CD worked......

This sick Digit magagine is just so unlucky for me. It sucks. I'm a poor guy (economically) and can't afford to buy Digit every month. I collect all my pocket money and manage to buy Digit every 3 or 4 months. But till now, never has it happened that I have not got problems with Digit CDs.
Once, the Digit CD (both of Mindware and Playware, yeah, a long time back) had the paper of the cover glued to them and I had to clean them. It was irritating. I asked for support but you said that it was for subscriber Indians only...............
Later, after a few months, I bought another Digit issue and among the CD nad DVD, the CD had a crack on the edge. I didn't expext that and never checked it before buying and the shopkeeper, obviously refused to replace it.
Again, I bought April 2005 issue of Digit today and I was happy to find that both CD and DVD had no physical problems. The CD was good and I installed Mozilla Suite from it. I saw VMware on DVD and wanted to write it to a CD. I bought a blank CD-R and went to an old friend of mine, who has a DVD drive, and asked him to write some programs form DVD to my CD-R. But all the files in the CD are corrupted. ALL OF THEM. I checked it on other friends house and the DVD is corrupted for sure.
I know you are not giving support to ppl outside India (Nepal) but please could you check the DVD and content well before packaging them or at least .....................

it's july 2006, i have written 100's of emails which means over 300rs of internet cost of internet cafe, and still my april 2005 dvd is not working and not replaced, am a digit lover that's why i did not moved to take legal steps, but am very dissapointed, if any body is reading this, please help me, i want the replacement, i feel cheated by the digit, i have send mails to cdcontent and all that was told to me i have done, now what can i do,
