Not able 2 write dvds :( -Vista64U HP lappy

noticed recently.. on my 2GB ram C2D Vista 64bit ultimate lappy... i am not able to write dvds... using any software...

i was able to do it earlier... but now... not able to.

when i did the vista default burning.. it did to a point and stopped... but the dvd showed as empty.. it kept repeating the prob...

I noticed the prob when i infrarecorded (http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67787)... though its not the prob of that sw... as it was not writin even after reinstallation... capture below...

Another info needed... what is the purpose of Upper/Lower Filters in CD/DVD readers/writers? Anythin with it.. can any1 throw light on it....

Media incompatibility? Are you trying a new media and that is which is not burning?

Try some established burning software like Nero? Your problem appears to be very odd, but assuming its a new laptop drive, I hope your drive is still well physically.

Not much idea abt the prob but is it the case wit vista only or all oses?? Btw y do u always keep writing zanjeer.divx? :p

notice an I/O error? i hope you didn't give any jerks to the lappy while it was burning... since its giving errors in all software it most prolly not a software problem. try removing the drive and the controller to which it is attached in the device manager and let windows install the drivers again. see if this solves the problem. otherwise take it to the service center if still under warranty or open up the laptop if its not and try to reconnect the drive.
