There are a few other movie too in the pipeline, like "Max Payne", a GTA movie that has been waiting for a long, long time and a few others and that I cant recall right now. Will try to post the relevant links soon.

That reminds me, "FarCry" is being made into a movie too. Last heard, Rock was gonna play Jack Craver but now that he will be The Marine in Doom 3, wonder who will be playing Jack in FarCry-The Movie.
Man , they take these big budget games & make trash movies in their names. Most of the so called game movies were trash. hope they make sensible movies.

Actually, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and AvP were "acceptable" as popcorn munching flicks to watch when you're bored. I really liked RE and RE:A, maybe I am really mindless. Lame@ss movies, but still good entertainment of sorts. Hope Doom 3 turns out to be a good popcorn muncher too. :D
The impressive cast of Doom 3 includes
Sarge - Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson - (The Mummy Returns, The Scorpion King) (He's supposed to be the main character, not the Sarge from the game.)
John Grimm - Karl Urban - (Eomer, The Lord of the Rings) (I think he's a kind of a Campbell-inspired character)
Samantha - Rosamund Pike (Miranda Frost, Die Another Day) No idea who she is supposed to be, but I hope she's not Theresa or Dr. Elizabeth McNeil inspired. :D
Goat - Ben Daniels
Duke - Razaaq Adoti
Portman - Richard Brake
Pinky   - Dexter Fletcher
Mac - Yao Chin
Dr. Carmack   - Robert Russell
Lt. Hunegs - Daniel York
Sandford Crosby - Ian Hughes
Dr. Jenna Willits (Willits, triple LOL  )
Dr. Hillary Tallman - Blanka Jarosova
Dr. Thurman - Jaroslav Psenicka
Curtis Stahle / The Baron - Brian Steele (Maybe a Hell Baron, maybe inspired by Dr. Malcolm Betruger aka The Maledict)
The basic premise of the story is that when a Special Ops squadron answers a distress call from a science lab on the planet Olduvai (WTF?:D) their investigation reveals that a series of mutant beings (mutants?) are systematically killing off the population there.
This is going to be absolutely hilarious, I think. :D
BTW, the movie is Number 5 on the "Top Most Previewed" list at Yahoo! Movies and is produced by the same company that made "Constantine" Someone there is obsessed with Hell. :D

Olduvai? Mutants? Isint it supposed to be a Doom movie? Did Doom ever had mutants? AFAIK, the Doom games were based on Mars and Earth, right?

Knew it b'fore. Thought i'd post, but i had the idea you guys wouldve know it b'fore. After making movies into games, now the fad has reversed, making games into movies,a la Alien versus Predator. Let us see whether this movie would make a mark.

The news of Doom3 movie is months old and was discussed in the forum too ...... but here is some new news that was on planetdoom(and yes it not a rumor)
DOOM movie done
According to Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/35986) , the upcoming DOOM movie has completed shooting.
The article quotes wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who stars in the movie which is scheduled to be released August 5th by Universal Pictures. The movie came under criticism last year when it was revealed that the writer, Wesley Stick, had made several changes, including the movie's location (from Mars in the games to an unknown planet in the movie), the presence of Hell (in the game, Hell invades, in the movie the zombies and monsters are a result of a virus), the use of S.W.A.T. rather than Space Marines, and a number of other changes.

I heard about the movie being in making a long time ago, but saw the cast today only, good choise of cast, but Mutents & Olduvai, amn Doom is supposed to be Mars & Hell, Y this
Flop, super flop
The movies they make should be movies & not shootoffs of games. What I mean to say is that even a person who has never played the game should be able to enjoy the movie. But most of the time this is lacking. The movies more often than not, even fail to impress the gamers.

Well, whether its a flop or not, only time will tell, 'cause most if the veiwers who will watch the movie may not have played or know about the Doom series. So they might end up liking the movie after all. As for we hardcore gamers, any diversion from the original setting and plot will only make us cry murder!

well the cast of this movie is good
The Rock wod be unimaginable in the role
Rosamand Pike wasnt done justice to her role in the james bond flick
hopefully she has a better role in here
but i just hope it doesnt turn out to be a flop
atleast RE and Re: Apocalypse were good enuf
hope it aint bad than these two

Hmmm, then you will end up all confused, what with the setting and location all changed for the movie. Heed my suggestion, go play the game. Just like most good movies dont translate well into games, most great games dont translate into a good movie. If you are a hardcore gamer, expirience the game first. If not, well, it doesnt really matters in the end.

OMG ! Uwe Boll (director for HoTD) sucks big time, and the worst thing is he has taken up making films based games as a major hobby. He is going to direct/or produce quite a major no. of flicks like Alone in the dark, Far Cry, Bloodrayne !!

Dr. Carmack - Robert Russell
I'll be interested to see how he delivers his dialogues. :D
But WTH is Rosamund Pike doing here? Jeez I h8 those extra female characters thrown in just to make the movie look better. Not that I mind a lot ;) but it just slackens the pace a li'l.
But I really don't think it's gonna be a gr8 movie. Atleast for some1 who's played DOOM already.
And whatever u say abt HL, I have a feeling that noone will be able to do justice to it onscreen. Cuz well, there's a huge difference between playing Gordon urself, continuously from a FP perspective if I might add (which's what made HL kick a$$) and watching some1 with a star/superstar tag (and consequently a screen image) attached to him play it out. I'm sure it will be a letdown. Let's just hope it never gets made, or that I'm proved wrong.
I'ld rather have HL3, @ any rate. :)
The only game-based movie I'm waiting for is MP. That was the one game that was truly a crossover betn Hollywood and Silicon-burning Valley. ;) Besides watching the movie version of a game u played in the Third Person Perspective isn't as much a culture shock as against the movie version of an FPS (like DOOM or HL). :)

@DKant: what abt an animated movie...a la stuff like final fantasy spirits within....now that would make an HL movie really kick a$$....i have no hopes whatsoever with the DOOM movie though...esp since the Rock cant act
it will b mindless action....which is fun when u carry out carnage on a computer screen....not on a movie...lol...

@Nemesis : Not like final fantasy ,coz square studios the makers of final fantasy had to close down becoz of heavy financial loss in that project.

what about the Oscar winning movie The Godfather being made into a game
they even included the original script in the game!

Nah, I think I will skip that one. :D As for FF:TSW, its still one of my all time faves, along with Titan AE and of course, the same Square Prod. feature "Final Flight of the Osiris" :D Can't wait for such gritty animation movies rather than a laugh-a-minute animation movies that we see so much these days. I liked Titan AE most because of that, combining cel- and 3D animation along with a great story and a really out-of-this-world soundtrack. :D
Man, i just saw Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Not bad man, not bad at all. I liked the zombie dog scenes. But the dog scenes in the first part were better. The way Alice jumps turns around & kicks those damn dogs was really awesome!!!.

Mmmm, Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine. (drools) :D I am waiting for the DVD to come out here yet, if it doesn't, Amazon.com, here I come. While this movie sticks true to the PS2 games, its definitely not as gritty as the original. That was just plain awesome. Still, a worthy flick. It looks like there's gonna be a sequel though, but that was to be expected. :D

Oh, that was the Rock in the first picture? I thought it was an imp throwing a fireball with a Trite to its left. Lots of guys with big guns fighting interdimensional monsters. Oh me, oh joy! Blech! I don't suppose these guys have ever heard of shotguns, plasma rifles or BFGs.

the rock is an a**.he does not know how to act.his scorpion king was pathetic, more so his acting.you can be rest assured that he will mess up doom too.what a pathetic excuse for an actor he is.he was better off in wrestling.

@tommy , i do not agree ;), rock is a nice actor ;) as all they do in wwe is crappy laughable acting , really funny ,with fake fights, but the rock is best of them all i must say.
Its here folks. I only hope it will be as good as the game. Lets hope its not the same stuff we have seen in Resident Evil. Check the quicktime trailer here-
