I run Red hat8.0 in p3 550 128mb ram a tnt2 grafix card
but it runs very slowly almost 121mb of ram is used so if anany of u guys
can help me in tweaking the os such that it uses low amont of ram and
processing power

Which is the desk top manager that you use? The maximum saving can be done by switching over to a lighter desktop manager like fluxbox/window maker/xfce.

Yes.. pradeep is right and also make sure that you have stopped all the services not required by you.

There that is the problem please shift to one of the lighter desk top manager and your system will come alive. Let me tell you we run linux on a P2 system with flux box and the sytem is goog for all mandane activites so by comparision you have a super computer.
