machine wont boot!

I have a pentium 4 machine which was runnning well until yesterday when it failed to boot. THe POST beep is there but when I go to start windows normally it restarts again and then the same thing happens in circle. When i go into the safe mode it shows a list of program files and again fails to boot.I was thinking of reinstalling the OS (wondows XP) .

any suggestions?

Check your RAM; take it out & put it back in another slot. Clean it if necessary. If problem still persists, you may have to re-install xp. By the way, what were you doing when it failed? And how can it fail to boot; I mean, were you restarting or somethin??
