if ur trying to hide nasty sites u have been to , try using different profiles for users . that way u wont have to clear history and can keep the urls u been to safe from others .
that brings us to another question : is it possible to have password for firefox profiles ??? like Outlook identities in a way

Program that provides the user with the capability to edit individual URL addresses in the URL address dropdown list in Internet Explorer. These URL addresses are also referred to as Typed URLs.

If you want to selectively edit the URLs, the ones you've typed in, go to Start>Run and type in regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
and delete the TypedURLs you dont want. However, the drop down list also relies on your History folder to bring up the URLs. So, just hit Ctrl+H to open the history sidebar, select the entries and sites you dont want and hit delete and then restart the browser and Windows to complete the cleanup.
