Everything hang after net connection.....

Hi,
i use gprs for net connection, before that i was using bsnl dial up connection. the problem is same in both cases.
here is what happens.
after net get connected, everything hang. no any new window opens, not even internet explorer, task manager, no any new programs, nothing. this is for about 6-7 minutes. and after this time all those windows and programs start running immidiately all those attemts of opening new IE window opens. the imp thing is that if i open IE windows and any other program before connection, all those work fine even after connection. I have tried reinstalling the drivers of gprs modem and also of dial up modem. its too :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: irritating. :p
i use Win xp sp2.

run a multi anti-* scan 2 check 4 presence of malicious proggies on ur comp

u cud also post a Hijackthis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php) log file 4 people 2 help u detect any such proggy

me still learning d ropes abt hijackthis but der r many mem who wud


btw how much RAM do u have, also sounds liek bottleneck issue
