Cannot write...

Guys, I cannot write anything using my dvd writers (desktop and laptop). They are both giving me the same errors, namely power calibration error and cannot perform fixation. I have tried using different media and uninstalled/installed the dvd writer but to no avail! I have even turned off the IMAPI service after doing a google search about the problem. So what's the solution guys.

Assuming you have gone over a range of optical media and there are no loose power connections anywhere... Have you tried updating the firmware? You can check the manufacturer's website for the latest version and hopefully it may have relevant fixes. Try cleaning the DVD burner by blowing air to unsettle any dust blocking the laser; have your burner serviced.

Just clean the lens.

burn with 8x or 16x. old writers somehow manage to get this problem!
