hello,
my friend wants to buy a pc . his budget is not exactly fixed . he wants it for C , solid edge / CAD and engg stuff and absolutely no games . Plz suggest a config.

i know .its his first comp buy ( he didnt even know how much it might cost ) . he hates games . thats all he says .

Just tell the approx. rate like 20k or 30k. <20k is impossible for a branded one. If he wants in 10k or <10k, he will have to go for 2nd hand comps. :)

Huh. 15K for CPU when you spend 3K for mobo. That would give you crappy performance and a 40GB hard disk?

u can get 160GB PATA for 2500
use a good mobo atleas of 8K if proc is 15K
Box 3K :confused: use simple one 1.5K

thanks , i wud like a config that way ( prathiks ), cud u mention the prices as well .thanks .i think for his budget and needs , he can choose tft monitor and he wants a ups as well in the same budget.and why does he need and separate gfx card ? wont onboard do ?

PSU any in budget but make sure its better 1 else system will get kaput :p
Reast normal :) This 1 gr8 for programming and daily stuf will beat E4300 at stock as AMD X2 beat every C2D at stock did not beleive me read review :)

Er.. SOny drives are nothing the drive is of Lite o itself the RMA and all are of Lite on so no points in recommending Sony and Lite On get LG H42 N ;)

knowing cad/cam softs.. mm..
u need high ram.. as much as u can.. coz all those complexities in ur design really sucks every MB of ur ram..1GB is ok.. 2GB is good
19+ TFT wide screen is recomended
n gfx card.. atleast a 7600GS if poss..
m tellin frm ma personal experience of cad softs..

Yeah umm if he is using CAD, Will definatley need a Gfx card, I have ACAD 2007 and I have a ATI 256 MB card in there, which is either minimum or recommended, and I have a 3GHz proc with 1GB RAM and running the 3D models, well it chugs and is kind of choppy at times, I even try to disable as many non essential startup/services items as well. The most important thing CAD needs is a vid card So add that into your price tag, I have been told to buy a 512MB vid card, but They ain't that cheap here....
