"TurboLinux will attempt to lure Windows users over to the Linux operating system in baby steps this June when it starts selling its Wizpy media player worldwide (http://open.itworld.com/4906/070531wizpy/page_1.html). The pocket-sized device, which plays audio and video files, is really a Linux carrot of sorts, in that it also allows users to store a complete Linux desktop in its memory. You can plug the Wizpy into a PC's USB port and boot up the Linux system with all its user settings, passwords, bookmarks, etc. It originally launched in Japan, where TurboLinux marketed it to 'early adopters who are curious about using Linux but either don't want to or can't install the operating system.' The company will now target the same crowd around the globe, starting in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, India and Singapore."

The device itself already has a multilingual on-screen display, but the bootable version of Linux included inside needs to be translated into other languages prior to wider availability.
In Japan two versions of the Wizpy are available, differentiated by the 2G bytes or 4G bytes of memory they contain. TurboLinux will offer only the 4G-byte version overseas. It will be priced at the local equivalent of the Japanese price, which is ¥33,800 (US$278 ).
The Wizpy will be available in North America through Source One Network Inc., in South Asia through eSys Information Technologies, and in the rest of Asia and Oceania through Ferosys. A distribution agreement for the U.K. is under negotiation.
