View Full Version : New PC - IDE too slow

Hi Guys,
First of all, i am very happy i bought a new PC yesterday. I Will post about it later :)
Now, i have this 4 yr old 40GB IDE Harddrive with my Stuff. It gets conncted but the data transfer is tremendously slow. :(
Can anyone help me. The Motherboard is Intel 965WH :)

Maybe the IDE HD is a bottleneck for the SATA HD.

Nah, not so much Bottleneck that it will take it 20 mins to copy 700MB. I have been using this IDE HDD since quite a time.

Just check if Ultra-DMA is enabled or not.

Yeah, i already checked DMA. Its seems fine. I think, something is wrong with my HDD cause it is showing CRC ERRORS aswell :(

do a low level format that should fix the issue

Are the companies were giving 4 years warranty like the WD gives 5 years warranty?
If yes its your lucky day buddy!!!!!!!!

I dont need the old hardrive once i copy my stuff of it

Well then try it on some older system....may be it will work!

Did u check the cabling?
Remove any other IDE Devices and only connect the new SATA HDD and the IDE HDD.
Try it on another system if possible.
This wud confirm if it is a problem with the HDD or the IDE Port/Cable.
