Google’s anti-malware team has recently published a new blog , in which there are some hints about the companies ambitious drive to put a wall between malafide Websites and the End-Users.

Location of compromised web sites.

If this were to happen, it would put the company up against McAfee’s SiteAdvisor, Trend Micro’s TrendProtect and Exploit Prevention Lab’s LinkScanner, three browser add-ons that slap graphical warning signs (red, yellow or green labels) next to search results.
It sounds very much like Google could emerge as a player in the anti-virus space. Can a big acquisition be far away? More at http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=229&tag=nl.e539

It's not so easy to establish place in already well established antivirus market. Very tough job to beat the leaders. Google..can you?

Google acquires a security company called Green Border

Google pulled out the wallet and acquired a security company called Green Border on May 11. This company has found a unique solution to stop malware that may find its way onto your computer by simply browsing the internet. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, GreenBorder Technologies was founded in 2001 to bring a new approach to security.

GreenBorder, the industry’s first Desktop DMZ software for Windows, keeps Internet invaders out and enterprise data in. It allows users to safely connect anywhere, go to any website, open any Internet email or attachment, and use any downloaded files without worry. GreenBorder’s unique, signature-less approach never needs updating and provides continuous protection against corruption, theft and invasion of business data systems.
