my dvd writer is hp 840b. when i'm writing any files(4.5 gb approx) it takes more than 1 hour!!. during writing of movies, using nero 7, the estimated time at the beginning is only six minutes. when the writing reaches the stage where tracks are witten, the process slows down. my pc is compaq presario P-4 with 756 MB ram. Please tell me what could be the reason?

Reset the DMA.
Use this tool: DMA Reset (http://svp.co.uk/helpdesk/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=viewdownload&downloaditemid=15)

Is your Drive set to DMA mode? In case you don't know.......Go to Device manager and set your Drive to DMA(in case its PIO)
Also, ensure that you are using the correct media for burning.... Some drives are optimised for + or - type of media... Check that info regarding that and use the correct media.
Don't burn with many apps running in BG...
