View Full Version : dvd writer started working in pio mode

i have samsung dvd writer SH-W162Z .Earlier it was working in UDMA-2 mode.
one day i noticed that while copying data to the hard drive from the writer
it was consuming 100 percent cpu on my 3.0GHz P4 .I opened device manager and found the writer is working in pio mode.I flashed the firmware of the odd but then to of no help. Help me to correct the problem.Please.I am using xp.

the same one existed in ma lg drive
i installed some raid driver from my motherborad cd and the soft dectected ma drive and put it in udma 2 mode
but den i found out the problem was in the data cable.
u cud even try enabling the udma mode frm the dev manager.

and use the following version 1.17.11.02 WHQL..
And other main thing..check if ur cable is 40 pin..and if it is...ASAP change it to 80pin..even that caused the problem

device manager was of no help as it does'nt correct the problem and there is no issue related to 40 pin or 80 pin cable. someone please help....

Reset the DMA.

whots a pio & udma 2 mode ?
by default, which mode ?
I encountered the same pro. Sol : Remove the cables, clean it, and insert it in another slot. Mine was solved in this way.
