Hey folks ,this for all the people having SATA drives.I recently got myself a Seagate 160GB SATA HDD and its working fine.I also have a old Samsung 40GB IDE HDD that I have running XP.Now there is no OS installed on SATA drive. Here's the thing, when I load windows ,it detects the SATA drive as a removable drive with the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray.
In device manager ,it shows up along with my other samsung drive. Is this normal. I also read somewhere that SATA II has hot swap function. Is this also true for SATA I ?? Any ideas??
And also i'm using the MSI K8N Neo4 -F mobo.

So you mean its normal? Is there anyway to disable the hot swap feature?

you can very well disable it

go to device manager>expand disk drives>double click on sata drive>go to policies>check enable write caching on this disk after selectin optimize 4 performance

@digital2006 ........ "optimise for performance " is already selected and thats the reason its showing the green arrow. But anyways since it is normal ,I can ignore it.
Thanks for all your help guys, appreciate it.
