Just updated amarok 1.4.4 to 1.4.5 now i can't play any media it gives

Error:no engine loaded can't start playback

amarokxine and libxine are there on system

Go to Tools > Configure Amarok > Engine and select Xine there if not already selected.

Plus, its libxine-extracodecs that Amarok needs ..

Tools > Configure Amarok > Engine shows no engine (but On yast software management list i can c them installed )



idk but i was able to play media using amarokxine and libxine may be this newer verion needs ibxine-extracodecs

No not that way, that extra-codecs allows media like MP3 and a few other popular sorts to play ... Odd the engine isn't showing, can you attempt a re-installation of the Xine engines? Or check if there's an update for them?

updated amarokxine now its working fine !

Glad it is, Amarok 1.4.5 has album arts now :) Just enter an album's song list in the explorer and you can see it :)

^^ lots of new features +changes but splash screen remained same for me !

I think that can be customized via the .kde folders. Don't remember exact filenames to give though, maybe eddie will give it if he looks by here ..

Put a JPG at the following location with name splash_screen.jpg
~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/images/splash_screen.jpg

Here is one I am currently using

On suse 10.2 splash is located here

/opt/kde3/share/apps/amarok/images/splash_screen.jpg

I replaced default with this one

On suse 10.2 splash is located here

/opt/kde3/share/apps/amarok/images/splash_screen.jpg Splash screen in that location will be replaced every time you update Amarok. OTOH any modifications done in your home directory will stay until you make changes yourself.
