Flash Menus in walkman series install guide

ok.. this is a guide to installing flash themes on ur se w810i,w300i, z550 etc phones.. i dunno if it works with k series..but am trying to find out.. for those of u who dont know wat i m talkin bout, chk out this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRtzrVT5Xbo) video

Firstly, check ur firmware version.. do this by pressing >*<<*<* on ur joystick.. then go to service info

Secondly, Install USB flash drivers.. download them from here (http://rapidshare.com/files/28941212/USBFlash.rar.html)
then connect ur phone via the dcu-60 cable while keeping the "c" key pressed.. this brings up "found a new hardware wizard".. simply browse to the location of the above file to install the usb drivers.THIS STEP IS NECESSARY.. DO NOT SKIP THIS!!

download ur firmware file ( from topsony.com .mbn file).. if u own an 810i, this is the link to the firmware file

i have a few firmwares on my comp. .. do let me kno if u need any.. if i have them, i'll upload

WARNING: Flashing ur phone can damage ur cell permanently IF NOT DONE CORRECTLY, i DO NOT take responsibility for the damage caused. so proceed at ur own risk.

MAKE SURE U HAVE FULLY CHARGED CELL BATTERY BEFORE PROGRESSING.

1. BACKUP ALL CONTENTS OF UR FONE.. SHUTDOWN UR CELL AND REMOVE SIM CARD

1. Download far manager (http://www.farmanager.com/) and xs++ (http://rapidshare.com/files/28927659/XS__.rar.html)

2. Download the SEFP plugins from here
SEFP010044 (http://sephone.nm.ru/tools/SEFP010044.zip)
sefp010051 (http://sephone.nm.ru/tools/sefp010051.rar)

3. Extract FIRST SEFP010044.zip THEN sefp010051.rar to C:\Program Files\Far\Plugins

4. Download http://rapidshare.com/files/28928436/db2010cid49_4_alpha.rar.zip.html and again extract it to C:\Program Files\Far\Plugins

5.Open xs++ and flash ur main with w810_p3k_dcu.49R.ssw (inside the above mentioned file). DO NOT CHECK ‘CUSTOMIZE UR FILE SYSTEM’

DO NOT FLASH UR FILE SYSTEM WITH THIS FILE!!!

It’s a break loader. After flashing with this loader, u cant start ur fone. It's only 5 flash blocks, should not take more than 30secs. Just choose STOP if it hangs on 100%.

6. Remove ur battery for 2-3 secs n put it back again.

7. Open Far manager and press F11

8. Here select SEFP 0.10.0.51 and hit enter.

• If you get the error: "Unknown exception", Exception address: 0x7C812A5B...... The plugin will be Unloaded!
This is a bug. It's because you don't have any COM-ports, so create a fake COM-port connection. I did it with my BT Dongle.

• if you get the error: "<BIldr> can be used with Service Cable ONLY".... browse to the SEFP folder and patch sefp.dll with sefp0.10.0.51patch.exe.

9. Next screen, select device as dcu-60, speed as 921600 and bootscript as w300_w810_z550_cid49 (for w810 i used this, for other models select the appropriate bootscript)

10. Hit Enter the matrix.

11. Now follow the instructions onscreen and u shd get a screen which says FS and Flash. Select FS press enter.

Here I shd tell u that the far manager screen consists of 2 window panes, the left pane shows ur phone contents like FS etc. and the right pane shows ur computer contents.

12. For flash menus, simply drag these files from the right pane in far manager and drop them on top of FS/tpa in left pane:

Make sure u drop the entire directory “preset” on top of fs/tpa.

13. After u r done with this, close far manager, Remove battery n put it back after 3 secs, n open up xs++ again.

14. Flash ur main with ur firmware with (.mbn) file. DO NOT CHECK ‘CUSTOMIZE UR FILE SYSTEM’
Once this is done, remove ur battery, put it back after 3 secs n start ur phone!! That’s it!

15. Download the Themes (http://rapidshare.com/files/28938675/Themes.rar.html) and put the .thm files in ur phone using sony ericsson suite or whichever software u prefer.

If u did everything exactly as I said, u shd get the flash themes.


U can also put in customised acoustic drivers, camera drivers,patches,media player skins etc. using this method!

In case u damage ur phone doing this, simply run SEUS n everything will be back to normal! :D

yeah.. if u wanna change the menu icons, all u have to do is go to FS/TPA/PRESET/SYSTEM/MENU. There u will find a file called menu.ml.

MAKE SURE U BACK A BACKUP OF menu.ml IN CASE U SCREW ANYTHING UP!!! :D

Open it in wordpad or notepad n go to this line:

this is to change "internet services" icon for example.. to change other icons, simply browse to the desired element id in menu.ml n make the same changes as above. Once u have made the changes, Save the new edited menu.ml in FS/TPA/PRESET/SYSTEM/MENU by overwriting the existing file and also put in the images u wish to make the icons.. in the above case, abc.png and xyz.png shd be put in FS/TPA/PRESET/SYSTEM/MENU along with menu.ml :)

btw.. this method works in w810,800,k750 etc fones..

hey buddy! I agree it is risky but i started fidling around with it since the day i got my fone.. if u have the corect guide n knowledge, there is NO WAY u can screw this up!! plus there is SEUS to help u out if u screw nething up.. its not as risky as u make it sound!!! :D i have flashed n reflashed my fone like 50 times now using the above method.. still runnin fine! :D


Oh, n b4 sending ur fone to the service center, u could have posted ur problem here , in this forum.. v might have helped u out with it.. as i see it.. ur fone couldnt turn on, yeah?? well..i had the same problem the first time i flashed n i just had to reflash my main firmware..!!

you needn't goto the service center. jus download the default flash files and flash it. this works in the worst case scenario too!

How do I backup my existing firmware and other stuff..So that if anything goes wrong I should be able to get my original 810i back..

The themes file link isnt working now. i downloaded files from here:

Is it OK. They also have .swf flash files. Where to copy that.

you can find the original firmware on SE-NSE. if you want you may backup the whole FS folder from far manager to save any customisations to the menus, drivers etc.

i guess the .swf files hafta be copied to the desktop folder inside TPA.

just connect your phone to XS++
in my tut to flash k550i to w610i i hv put download link to XS++ !

and it will give details of your phone as soon as u connect to its left !

then just disconnect your phone and see the log file in XS++ folder and post that details here

hard rock, yes u'll need to use setool2 for cid5x phones. there haf been so many acoustic packs, however i feel the original ones by qwerty and toshara are still the best. experiment wid both. you can even mix-match and make ur own ones.

I applied flash menus. Interface looks awesome. Now, I want to use acoustic pack, I downloaded toshara n blackice.. there are so many files like BDSS_***.apf, farfield_,BTC_,VHF_,PHF_ etc.

Could you please tell me which one should I use for louder back speaker volume and headphone clarity. I think there are separate files to boost Call volume,Play volume etc etc.. I dont want to increase all volumes in order to save battery life.

Also how to restore back the original audio acoustics(the present one)??

all files wid "farfield" are related to the loudspeaker and "handset" to the earpiece, the PHF prolly are the headset files.

you need to take a backup of the whole acoustics folder to restore. or i guess you'll find the original ones on the net. search.

u can put flash menus..
but use XS++ v2.2 !!

IGNORE The acoustics.. and camera drivers.. stick with ur stock acoustics.. and stock camera drivers !

Read Each And Every Word Carefully If you don't want to mess up your phone !

We use XS++ 2.0 to write files into the Phone's File System (FS)

1. First update your phone via SEUS.

This is easy just follow the on screen instructions given by SEUS program !
Reason for updating phone : XS++ supports CID52 flashing and SEUS will update your phone to CID52
If your phone is already updated then SEUS will says its already updated.. this is the case with all

new w610i sold in August and there after ! ppl who got phones before July will hv EROM CID 51 phone !

Installing SEUS is compulsory even if your phone is updated ! because it installs drivers required for

flashing which XS++ will use !

2. Download XS++
Create a folder XS++ in D: And Copy XS++.exe in that folder !
Create a folder with name files_to_upload in XS++ folder

3. Connecting phone to XS++

Shutdown phone . Remove SIM Card. Reinsert Battery. (don't start phone)
Then Click on Connect in XS++ and holding C button on your phone connect your phone to Computer to USB

cable and don't leave C button until XS++ detects your phone and requests you to leave C button.
On the Left Side of the XS++ it gives details of your phone. Read it !

Your Phone OTP CID 51 and EROM CID 52 are must ! or else stop right here !

EROM CID Must be 52 !

4. Folder Creating Instructions and My Terminology !

If i say upload files to location files_to_upload/tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash/
then u must create a folder tpa then preset folder inside tpa folder and and so on till last folder

5. FSX Option in XS++ !

FSX uploads all the files in the folder files_to_upload to the phone's FS
In Configuration Select FSX to use FSX !
once u copied all files (example: skins, flash menu) in files_to_upload folder then click Start FSX !
Sit back and relax and XS++ will do the job !
Disconnect phone when done Insert Sim Card and Start Phone !


6. Flash Menus

After downloading flash menu copy the .swf files to flash folder

files_to_upload/tpa/preset/system/desktop/flash/*** .swf files her***

and upload using FSX to phone

Later Copy .thm files to M2 card !
Remember u must flash only the .swf files !

7. Walkman skins

upload skin folder to this location in phone's FS using FSX

files_to_upload\TPA\SYSTEM\MULTIMEDIA\MP\SKIN\**sk in folder here**

if skins are already placed then just flash ( click start FSX )

8. Flash Wallpapers

Just download and copy them to Memory Card as usual as u copy music to M2 Card
U can set them as wallpapers as u set pictures as wallpapers..

Advanced Stuff

9. Acoustics

w880i Acoustics are really great and provide v.good music quality

upload acoutics to this directory using FSX !!

files_to_upload/ifs/settings/acoustic/**** zapf files here ****

10. Higly improved camera drivers

Details of the driver
1. VR is set to 24 fps instead of 10 fps
2. Fine quality settings :
all pictures , compression is set from 85% to 95%
1632x1224 size, quality improved
3. Sharpening set to maximum
4. Tested and works good.

Upload camera driver using FSX to this location

files_to_upload/ifs/settings/camera/***camera driver file here****

Next now..

10. Visulizations !

upload to

.avx files in files_to_upload\TPA\PRESET\SYSTEM\multimedia\AV
starting image file in files_to_upload\TPA\PRESET\SYSTEM\multimedia\AV_DA TA



Few People have problems Installing SEUS.. only for them !

SEUS : FLASH PLAYER NOT INSTALLED ERROR !

SEUS requires flash player....
all firefox user have this problem !
Just install flash player using Internet explorer !!
search for flash player using google in IE ! goto that abode or macromedia website...
install it ! for windows and for IE !
Restart Computer !

NOTE:
Never Tell Service Center that u flashed ! if u do they will cancel your warranty !
If they ask any questions just say you updated your phone ! Your Phone's Warranty depends on your English ! And more over your are customizing the phone not flashing Main and FS which voids warranty.

b) you may delete some files inadvertently
c) you may forget some steps
d) the system may crash while flashing

2) 99% of the problems are recoverable unless you seriously screw up the erom by flashing the wrong files.

3) erom problems can't be fixed wid seus.

OK, everything went fine, until I applied the themes. I think I overlooked the fact that my screen is at 240x320, and the theme doesn't resize. Is there anything I can do, or should I look for 240x320 themes? The Walkman skins are similarly small. Are there any places to download skins at that resolution?
