Hmmm...
I am unsatisfied.
Its gonna be second time in last three years I am not buying Digit.(April 2007 was the first.)
Apart from that Mobile Shootout nothing is worth a look.
CD/DVD contents are not good.
Some softs are reapeated in both CD and DVD.
You guyz give some softwares such as Winamp and IE7 almost every month, wasting space in CD-DVD.
There is no need to provide them every month unless they get a major update.

I havent renewed my subscription when it ended recently. The content is mostly boring other than an article here or there. The CD/DVD contents never seemed that interesting.
I dont know if anybody else noticed or not that the mag contents as well as the disc ones seem really good only to those who are either new in the computing field or they are restricted by lack of a good internet connection with downloading facilties.
The net offers far more refreshing and latest articles than the mag offers and there is always access to the latest demos and software updates.
Still i hope each month that the digit guys will do something that will make me buy/subscribe to the mag again.

What happened to Ubuntu 7.04? You could have put that on your DVD. It was released on 19th April and is quite popular!!
Hopeful that you will put it on the next month's DVD.
Good contents this month though.
Sorry my bad. I just know that your DVD are set up way before. Too late to include Ubuntu I guess!

Yup. Fiesty came out way too late. It looks likely for June though, plus you can get it by ShipIt. Win win.

The Ryan VMS Update pack that you have given is version 2.1.8
which was realeased on 2007-03-20 but the current version is
"RyanVM Update Pack "2.1.9 " which was released on 2007-04-12.
I think you prepare the list ie which contents are going to be
provided on the CD/DVD before 20th of a current month & provide
it on the next month. So, why didn't you give us the current version
of Ryan VM's update pack as the version released on 12th of April
which could be easily added on the May month's mag. Thus we could
also get the updated version. Also you could provide the windows
version Blender.:(
You haven't provided windows server 2003 SP2 :(
I think next time you will be careful enough to add the updated versions
of softwares.
Some Suggestions:
1. Give Updated Softwares in Essential Section
For instance you could give the opera 9.20
2. Add Firefox in The Essential Section
3. Add AutoPatcherXp Monthly Update Pack in The Essential Section
4. Provide Some free e-books on various topics each month
Despite of these glitches I am going to buy DiGiT This month.!:)
Because I love the DiGiT so much that I cann't leave it, I can
only hope the the warriors behind DiGiT will improve the mag &
listen more cordially to us.

I had provided FatBeing with some links. I dont know why they dint use it. There was a good interactive link called as "Excel 2003 to Excel 2007 command reference guide". Its a link that we provide to our customers so that they can get used to the new look of the product. I dont know why Digit did not use it.
Here is the link:

I was thinking of starting a subscription to Digit, but then realised that every month I would be flooded with boring software. What happ DIGIT?? you used to give software to die for..now you give repeated stuff like Spybot, Winamp, etc...which anyone can download in 15 mins even on a slow connection. Why don't you give heavy game demos and Software that is 100MB+, something that the common man can't download over an average internet connection....TSK TSK!!!

Well, I got my copy yesterday, and after gving it a good once through, here's my 2 cents :
The LCD test was good. I would have hoped for another section on 20.1 widescreens, but I suppose those aren't for normal people.
The Mobile Phone shootout was definitely not what I expected.
It might irk you that we didn't review many phones from some leading brands. This was because we wanted to give you the bigger picture on the new brands that have entered the market and which might just displace the current leaders.
I am definitely irked. Not only were there just 2 phones from SE, but they were also compared against each other, when one was a camera phone,. and one was a walkman. I was certainly expecting something better than this. The Upper Crest goes way above 17k.
EDIT : I finally read the part where it says there'll be a separate shootout for the "creme de la creme". Point taken, I'll wait.
The rest of the magazine was average - I read it once, read it the second time, didn't feel any urges, left it.
Lastly, about the CD/DVD. My last 4 issues worth of CD/DVDs have remained untouched. There has simply been nothing that I have needed. For people who promote linux like you do, the contents of the CD/DVD (as well as the mag) are still pretty much Windows centric. I think you should start splitting the CD and DVD 50-50 with Linux and Windows.

Are you done? You're not accomplish anything useful, and you're making an idiot out of yourself besides. Think positive. If you don't like it, don't use it. Otherwise give some meaningful feedback with reasons as to why you don't like it.

Like the article says, the top guns are where they are. This was a test of the newcomers, looking at whether they warrant attention or not.

The mobile review was definitely not up to the mark. How else can you explain a shootout of just 21 cellphones when you are doing it after an entire year? Leaving out the hi-end and business phones from the shootout is just being lazy. People want to see N95 and the other better phones, many buy the mag just for that which is evident from people's comment in this thread. But no, digit had to conveniently do it sometime later. Fine! Could have just made the cover say - only mainstream phones. The Nokia N95 launch in India was revolutionary. I didn't find anything about its launch or the price in this issue.
Digit conveniently left out brands such as LG, Samsung from the shoot out which have good phones in the sub 18k category. It is acceptable to let more people know about the newer brands in the market, but I'm disappointed the way you have done it. Intex phones are just crap and I'm not being ignorant. I have seen the silver good buy award winner Intex Infi hang and just not work. My friend called it the biggest mistake of his life when he purchased that piece. Although, I cannot confirm but the Intex phones seem to be rebadged phones with Disney content. I was shocked to see the review criterion didn't include no. of service centers in the country and after sales support. The goof ups are there too. In the table, Infi has a negative point listed as being expensive at 5.4k whereas on the very next page, it is being said as affordable. Goof ups can be excused, not the other things.
The console article was really well written, the LCD shootout (34 of them! The 22+ inch LCDs were not left out btw) was excellent too.
It is just that when you read it in a tech mag, the readers do expect it to be articulate. The Buzzword of the month, states FSB units as MBps - but to the best I know it should be in MHz or MT/s. Another thing which I have been long waiting to be included in these shootouts is judging them on mass availability of products. Certain products are awarded best buy awards and they are rarely seen in the market or always out of stock with distributors in Mumbai. Don't be so rigid with shoot outs, explore some new ways and interesting ideas – that is all what readers ask. The web too has basic reviews, video reviews and truck load of them. People buy digit to get that extra bit. If Digit or likes don't criticize the manufacturers and distributors when they are wrong, miss out a trick, fail to provide better products then no one else will.

OK readed it today. (In my college library.) . And I am very disappointed.
Mobile review was not very good. I thought that it will be like the one you gave last year but it was very small and some of the major brands were left out.
FastTrack is too Noobish in my opinion. (But still a good read.)
Honestly speaking the best things in Mag was Digit Diary (I read it first always.:D) and ADS (Vigyapan yaar... Even they are better then articles...).

I have seen the silver good buy award winner Intex Infi hang and just not work. My friend called it the biggest mistake of his life when he purchased that piece.
OMG!! Silver good buy award to Intex!! Perhaps you are ignorant of the reputation of Intex among the consumers. Intex products are the worst you can possible get in the market. I know this because I own an Intex UPS and an Intex 2.1 speaker, which I bought in a moment of madness. Every Intex users I have met had one or the other complaint with their products. Even comparatively long lasting stuff such as keyboards breakdown after a few months. I have seen this myself. Intex uses very poor quality components and so have a very short life. A brand new Intex product might perform on par with some of the best manufacturers but in the long run (read as a couple of months), its going to stop working.
Please don't give any more "Best buy" awards to Intex in future. You are misleading the buyers.

Fatbeing, I have a question for you? Why havent you had a single article on Vista, a single cover story on it or any reviews or tips and tricks when others are flooding with them. Even a fast track on Vista doesnt seem to happen.
The rest of the mag was good. Where in India can I get the BR drive and media?

Like the article says, the top guns are where they are. This was a test of the newcomers, looking at whether they warrant attention or not.
When is the shoot out of the Top guns coming????? This is the worst issue i have ever read from Digit.

I think they should definitely pay heed on the page where the pole results are published every month now; month after month their occur worse printing mistakes and they don't pay attention or publish any corrigendum. Although I am not very much interested in the poll results but it's very much annoying to me to found this in a mag like Digit.
And for the mobile review this month - all you know how much that sucks. On page 60 the Intex infi's negetive point is 'Expensive' and on next page it's quoted 'very affordable' :) . They tested only some boring (not so popular) models this time and I can understand many news-stand buyers bought the mag this month only for the mobile review. In future they will think twice before buying the mag.
And what's about Digit Patron? Is '14th Feb 2007' yet to come or they do not need our patronage anymore :) ? Anyway I am not bothered.
