Update - Z550i?

I have puchased Sony ericsson Z550i in Jan 2007.
update for the phone available at sony ericsson wesite.

How can I come to know that updatation is really needed for my phone?
What difference it makes?

For that GPRS connection required in phone?

well, u need to search a bit on the net about whats new in the update. but if u are satisfied wid the performace and dun haf any complaints (like, the phone hangs or any problem likewise) then u need an update.

rather than upgrading over gprs i'd suggest do it via a pc connected to the net. its a lot safer.

yea update it thru pc rather than ota (thru gprs).. U cant trust the indian providers.. Kabhi bhi gprs band ho sak ta hai.. And if u get a call or sms in between upgrading than bhagwan bachaye..
